
The high demand for professionals with information systems expertise cannot be understated in today's global business environment. Programmers, analysts, and end user support are no longer the only careers where an information technology background is important. As companies continue to employ the latest tools of IT to refine its business processes, several fields have a demand for talented individuals with a management information systems background, including marketing, sales, finance, production, and accounting. Information systems have taken on such strategic importance that managers with an IS background are becoming chief executive officers.
MIS professor Maric Boudreau and colleague Rick Watson are monitoring the "Green IT" movement, wherein industry is trying to reduce alarming levels of computer-generated pollution.
