Marketing PhD Program

Program of Study

The Marketing PhD typically requires a four-year commitment. During the first two years, students take a minimum of five marketing doctoral seminars, three minor field courses, and four research methodology courses. In addition, commitment to research is a crucial requirement of the program All doctoral students are required to prepare a research paper during their first year. Students first submit a proposal to a faculty review committee for approval. After obtaining faculty approval, students must submit the completed paper by the midpoint of the summer semester. Satisfactory completion of this task is required to continue in the program.

During the last two years of the program, each student must pass written and oral comprehensive (preliminary) exams, and successfully propose, complete, and defend is/her dissertation. Over the course of the program, doctoral students serve as research and teaching assistants.

Minor Field:

Varies depending on student's research interest. Past minors have included advertising, psychology, and strategic management.
