The collapse of the housing market has left many banks with their previous plans in complete chaos. With a predominant previous focus on real estate development and construction, many community banks are now faced with the daunting challenge of re-designing their basic strategies for the next several years while working through the problems created by their former strategy. This conference will focus on developing such strategies, dealing with what is certain to be a more difficult regulatory environment, and discuss methods to re-build shareholder value and re-gain investor confidence.
This one-day conference is organized and directed by James A. Verbrugge, Emeritus Professor of Finance and Chair of Banking, who is involved in executive education and the EMBA program at the Terry College and serves on several corporate boards of directors.
The conference is designed for CEO's, senior management, and directors of banks and BHC's, as well as managers and officers of institutions that work closely with the banking and financial services community. The goal of the conference is to learn from fellow bank executives, bank directors and leading service providers about the critical issues faced by leaders as they make decisions regarding whether to sell the bank, buy another bank, or hold on as an independent entity.
